A letter to my friend

Hello Suzy,
I am having a holiday now. But I have a part time job. I am working 2 hours in a day. In June the founder from a Myanmar private school will contact me to work at her school as a part time teacher. Unless she contacts me, I will go to Yangon where my uncle lives. He can give me a job. So everything is not sure for me.

The first meeting of a European girl and a funny village

Orla, me, my sister and brother went to village by car. We arrived to Sain Pyin market about 7 p.m. My relatives came and picked up us by motorbikes. The fresh air and beautiful fields encouraged me to feel happy. I was thinking about my family, friends and relatives from my village. Orla said she is very exciting and can't wait to see my village. Of course my friend, me too. At 7.30 p.m we arrived to village.

Day 1
The next day, we went to Sain Pyin market by tri-motorbike to buy food. While we are buying food, a man came and told me to show Orla's passport. I told him she forgot her passport at the village, so I'll give you a copy of hers tomorrow. And then, me and Orla went to my relative's tea house. We drank tea and talked chitchat. At that time two man, a detective and a police came to us and  they told me to show Orla's passport. So I told them again I would give it to them tomorrow. They explained me our government's laws and every foreigner can visit everywhere but they can't sleep at the village. They can stay only at the hotel. I hated my government's unacceptable, and stupid laws for the first time. I was nearly to cry. Then, they gave me an advice.(not an advice) They aked me to go to immigration office to negotiate. Therefore me, Orla and all of my uncles went there and negotiated. Finally, everything was okay. We came back to village. We were very happy since we got a permission to live. (Not a real permission)

Day 2
It was a very beautiful morning of my life because of that day was the first day of our Water Festival. We ate breakfast and lots of people came to my Uncle's house since they would like to see my beautiful European friend, Orla as well as they would like to invite us to their houses. Oh..I forgot to say you that we stayed at my uncle's house. It was a two story built house. Orla, my sister and my aunts stayed upstairs and me, my brother and uncle stayed downstairs. Then we had lunch. My aunts prepared lots of curries. Orla likes vegetables so she ate salad and vegetables. But she didn't try fried rat. After that, we visited the people's houses. All of them are my relatives. Do you believe it Suzy? The villagers very love Orla and they talked a lot with Orla. They said she is beautiful and suit with Myanmar dress. I performed as their interpreter. They praised Orla's skin colour is very nice and smooth. Everybody touched her skin because they wish they wanted to have white and smooth skin. They treated us Myanmar traditional snacks, fruits tea and coffee. While I am writing this letter to you, I miss my village and traditional snacks. Me and Orla were very happy. We did not splash water since it was the first day of Thingyan festival.

Day 3
I woke up happily because of the fresh sweet smell of air through the windows. Orla also got up early morning. She looked fresh and gay. She greeted me that "hello Robin.  How are you?" I smiled and said hello. Next, We had cake and coffee for breakfast. My uncle and me were preparing to go to Sain Pyin market since I have to give the copy of Orla's passport to the office. Then, we went there. Orla also went to my mom's village with my sister and aunt (Nyunt Nyunt) to worship our Ancestor gots. At the entry of my mom's village,  there is a very big terrimand tree. Under the tree there is a tiny house. It is the place where my Ancestor gods live. We offer them a plate of tea leave salad and ginger and some candles. Then, we wish what we want and the people from my village believe it. I came back from Sain Pyin market at 2 o'clock because my uncle wanted to buy some shirt. In the evening, we visited the people's houses and me and Orla played water fight with the children. It was fun. I took her to the school of my village. We talked a lot about the school.Next, we went and had dinner at my grandaunty (Daw Khin Kyaing) house. And then, Orla took a shower. My aunts helped her how to wear longyi when the Myanmar women take a bath. They laughed a lot and Orla wore thick tha.na.khar on her face.

Day 4
It was my special day. In the morning, Orla and me went for a walk. Then, Orla went to the monastery with my relatives. She listened Buddha's sermon and repeated after the monk although she did not understand. Everybody said she is an amazing girl. We went and had lunch to my cousin's (Daw Than Oo) house. She treated us rice and lots of curries such as pork curry, chicken curry, fried beans, sour soup, vegetable salads, and spicy curry. After that, the man from Tanal Gyi Kone village came and invited us. So we went and visited. They treated us pig's ears salad, tea leaf salad, fruits, tea, snacks and coffee. We visited lots of houses and took lots of pictures with the people. Everybody loves Orla. Then we came back and had dinner at 4 p.m. We went to the people's houses and splashed water. The people were hiding us and we had to seek and splash water. We were so happy. Then, I met my old friend (Mya Htoo Maung) on the street. He invited us to visit his house and told me he had prepared snacks for us. Therefore we went and visited there. He treated us bananas, Myanmar traditional snacks, tea and a plate of fried meat that looks yummy. Orla asked me what it is. So I asked to my friend. He replied me that is fried rat. At that time I got an idea. Orla never tried fried rat. I wanted her to taste it. So, I told her that is fried chicken. My friend went to the forest and caught it. And she ate a piece of fried rat, but she thought it was children. She said, "Oh... This is really delicious." Then she ate all the fried rat. Till now, she does not know that she ate fried rat. Please, Suzy,  don't tell Orla about it.

Day 5
It was the last day of water Festival. Orla and my relatives went to monastery. I did not came along with them because I don't like going to monastery. When Orla came back from there. We went to the forest with my uncle. I saw l lots of plants and trees. Then we came back to the village. We went and had lunch one of my cousin's(Win Char) house. Orla looked weak. I thought she is going to be sick. She told me she is not feeling well. So she took a rest from 12 a.m to 4 p.m. We had dinner at my cousin's (Win Mar) house. In the evening my uncle who lived at the middle of the village prepared a party. Some women made snack ball and every people came and had snack ball. After that, all people danced with the music. We also went there and we ate snacks and splashed water one another. Orla danced with the women. It was really funny. (I want you to see it Suzy.) At night we visited the people's houses and talked a lot. It was one of the best day of my life.
